Recently, a project to build steel-structured livestock sheds to support rural livestock farming was successfully completed and put into use. Based on the actual conditions of rural farming, the project uses steel-structured buildings as the core to create standardized and intensive farming spaces, address the shortcomings of traditional rural livestock sheds, help the rural farming industry develop in a large-scale and standardized manner, and inject new vitality into rural revitalization.
Recently, a steel-structured livestock shed project supporting rural livestock farming was successfully completed and put into use. Based on the realities of rural livestock farming, the project uses steel-structured buildings as its core to create standardized and intensive farming spaces, addressing the shortcomings of traditional rural livestock sheds, promoting the large-scale and standardized development of the rural livestock industry, and injecting new vitality into rural revitalization.
It is reported that the steel-structured livestock shed project is located in a concentrated rural livestock farming area, with a total investment of 68 million yuan, covering an area of 9 mu (approximately 6,667 square meters), and a total building area of 4,500 square meters. It is mainly used for large-scale poultry and livestock farming in rural areas, covering common livestock categories such as chickens, ducks, and pigs, and is suitable for the needs of small and medium-sized rural farms, balancing practicality, economy, and safety.
Unlike traditional brick and wood livestock sheds in rural areas, this steel-structured livestock shed uses high-strength steel to construct the main frame, possessing advantages such as earthquake resistance, wind resistance, moisture resistance, and corrosion resistance. It can adapt to the complex climate conditions of rural areas, effectively resisting extreme weather such as heavy rain and strong winds, ensuring the safety of livestock farming. During construction, a prefabricated factory and on-site hoisting assembly method was adopted, simplifying the construction process and reducing on-site work. The main structure and supporting facilities were completed in just three months, shortening the construction cycle by 60% compared to traditional sheds, significantly reducing construction costs for livestock farmers.
Combined with the characteristics of rural livestock farming, the steel-structured livestock shed was designed with practical needs in mind. It features a transparent structure and a highly efficient ventilation system to ensure air circulation and reduce the risk of livestock disease transmission. The floor is treated with anti-slip and leak-proof materials for easy daily cleaning and disinfection, reducing the pressure on disease prevention. The shed is also rationally divided into separate areas for poultry, livestock, and temporary isolation, with supporting facilities such as drinking water and feeding stations, achieving integrated management of breeding, feeding, and isolation, improving efficiency.
Compared to traditional brick and wood sheds, the steel-structured livestock shed has a service life of over 30 years. It is easy to renovate and expand later, allowing for flexible increases in shed area as the scale of farming grows without large-scale demolition and reconstruction, effectively reducing long-term investment costs for livestock farmers. Furthermore, the steel structure materials are recyclable, and the steel components can be recycled and reused after the sheds are no longer in use, aligning with the concept of green rural livestock farming and reducing resource waste.
The project leader explained that after the steel-structured livestock sheds are put into use, they can accommodate 15,000 poultry and over 800 livestock, serving more than 20 rural livestock farmers and small-scale cooperatives in the surrounding area. This effectively solves the problems of small capacity, poor durability, and inadequate disease prevention in traditional rural sheds, helping farmers expand their farming scale and improve efficiency.
A relevant official from the local rural revitalization department stated that the implementation of these steel-structured livestock sheds is an important measure to improve rural livestock infrastructure and promote the upgrading of the rural livestock industry. It not only addresses many pain points of traditional rural livestock sheds but also meets the requirements of the rural revitalization strategy. The next step will be to continue promoting the application of steel-structured livestock sheds, guiding rural livestock operators to upgrade their facilities, and promoting the development of the rural livestock industry towards large-scale, standardized, and green practices, thus contributing to the quality and efficiency of rural revitalization.
